How do I find the message board?
To access the message board:
- Click Your classes in the left hand navigation.
- If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to provide your e-mail address and password to log into the site.
- Click on the title of the class for the message board you want to access.
- On the class overview page, click Message Board.
How do I read my messages? How do I reply?
To read a particular message, click on the message topic. You will see a new screen that shows the full text of the
message as well as all related replies. From this screen, you have the option to write a reply or return to
the main message board. To reply to a message:
- Click Post Reply and type your reply in the Message Editor form.
- Once you have completed your message, click Preview to review your message before posting.
- If your message looks correct, click Post. To cancel your reply, click Cancel.
How do I post a new question to the message board?
- To post a question to the board, click Post New Topic and fill out the form.
- Once you have completed your message, click Preview to review your message before posting.
- If your message looks correct, click Post. To cancel your message, click Cancel.
How was I assigned the name that appears in the Author column when I post a message?
The name that appears in the Author column when you post a message is called your message board alias.
By default, your message board alias is the first letter of your first name followed by your last name
(as entered when you created your profile). You may change your message board alias at any time. To do so:
- Click Edit Profile in the left hand navigation.
- Click Change Your Message Board Alias
- Follow the instructions on the page to make the change.
How long will it take for the instructor to answer my question?
Our instructors review the Message Board at least every other day from
date of enrollment so you should receive a response within that timeframe
after posting your question. However, if other students have already answered
your question correctly, the instructor may pass your question without giving
an additional response.
How will I know when someone has responded to my question?
When someone responds to your message, a red dot will appear next to your topic on the main
message board page. Click on the topic to review the full text of your original message and the response.
